Boleh pantau akar dengan mudah
Nampak keadaan akar: sihat atau tidak, ada busuk ke tidak, ada akar berlingkar (root bound) ke tak.
Ini penting untuk tanaman seperti orchid, anthurium, monsterra kecil, syngonium, alocasia dsb.
Boleh kawal siraman air dengan lebih tepat

Tapi ada juga beberapa kelemahan kecil:
Kalau terlalu banyak cahaya, algae (lumut hijau) boleh tumbuh dalam medium.
Sesetengah akar tak suka terlalu banyak cahaya — boleh stress.
Perlu jaga kelembapan & kebersihan.
